Crazy For Kdrama Podcast Episode 22: Cozy, Cozy Kdrama

1 Apr

We had some fun this episode — or at least we laughed a lot. Although, how that’s different from any other episode? I’m not really sure.

In this episode we do lots of stuff, so just listen. Just kidding! After chatting about news, what we’re watching, and how Roommate has been letting us down of late, we answer Kdrama-related questions, which have us coming almost to blows over the epic question “Super Junior or Big Bang?” and wondering which Kdrama heroine we would most want to be. Then we move over to talking about comfort watches, dramas that are our go to’s if we are sick or just want to be cheered up.

Crazy For Kdrama Podcast Episode 20: Roommate, Remakes, and the End of Kdrama?

4 Mar

It’s the twentieth episode! Let’s party like it’s Episode One — you know, except for the fact that we were horribly nervous Episode One and now we are a slick podcast-making machine! Well, maybe not, but we still have fun.

For this episode, we talk about Junsu (Yes again! What can we say, his MV was released, and it is epic — how could we resist?), we squee about Stephanie’s newfound love of Roommate (well, we both squee, and Cherry rocks the ‘I told you so’), we answer a listener question regarding the sister to the sequel and spin off, the remake, then finally, we discuss the troubling news from the big three kdrama broadcasters and what that means for the future of Kdrama. Crazy For Kdrama Podcast Episode 12: Cramming In Kdrama

5 Nov

Episode 12, can we get a whoop-whoop! While we were recording, it also happened to be my birthday, so it’s Stephanie’s Choice on topics! So we’re a little fast and loose with the chat.

Three Seasons of Jung Yung Hwa?

23 May

three musketeersJung Yong Hwa is currently in talks to join the upcoming TvN series, Three Musketeers. Well, good on him I guess. But I wonder, does he have the acting chops to do a saeguk? Even a fusion saeguk?

Don’t get me wrong. I like Jung Yong Hwa. Love his band, CNBlue. I even think he’s getting a lot better as an actor. From all accounts he did really well his last drama Marry Him If You Dare (or Mi Rae’s Choice) or at least he was not the reason why I stopped watching the show. I think, if he really wants to continue acting, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

But a saeguk?  Continue reading

Possibly Loving Trot Lovers

21 May

trot lovers

In a complete turn around, with the casting of Jung Eun Ji, I am suddenly very interested in the upcoming drama, Trot Lovers. Before, my interest was fairly low to not at all, and now, I might actually watch it. Funny what changing a single person can do.

Looking at the casting I get excited and talk about–it’s usually guy oriented. And, unlike popular opinion, it’s not because I’m boy crazy. No, sadly, there just aren’t a lot of female actresses I get super excited for–and those who I do? Seem to let way too much time lag between projects. Come on ladies!  Continue reading

Do’s and Dont’s: Anatomy of a Good K-Kiss

24 May

Rewatching Flower Boy Ramyun Shop has made me think about exactly what goes into a really good, memorable Kdrama kiss. No, not all kisses need to be searching for ones tonsils to be hot–this is Kdrama not HBO. However, for writers out there, here a few Do’s and Don’ts on how to make your kisses memorable.

Do: Be On Cable
Cable channels seem to be a little less restrictive and a little more handsy. In turn their kisses are more realistic and hotter. Examples: Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, I Need Romance 2012, Nine.

Show Introduction: Flower Boy Ramyun Shop

8 May

Flower-Boy-Ramyun-Shop003Now that we have New Heart under our belts, I’m looking at the review schedule and I’m surprised at all the popular ones coming up. I must have hit a Kdrama watching streak last year. Think I’m kidding? Check it out: Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, Answer Me 1997, Shut up Flower Boy Band, Arang and the Magistrate, Queen In Hyun’s Man.

Holy Moly, that’s some awesome TV.

Up next is Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, the first in the hit Oh Boy series (which includes Shut Up Flower Boy Band and Flower Boy Next Door). While I like Ramyun Shop, it’s not my favorite of the series. It’s really enjoyable and has a pretty smokin’ K-kiss (thank you cable), but the love triangle irritated me a bit as the story went on.*ducks head* I know, this isn’t a very popular feeling, as I know this show is in many a Kdrama fan’s top 3 list. Kdrama Romance Goes To Army

26 Jul

We all like to joke about the Khottie Army rule. Army=hotness X 8. It’s an actual math equation. Check it out. On Fourth of July, when I was watching Joseon X-Files with my friend Kate, I astounded her with my knowledge of the lead actor Kim JiHoon. Nothing crazy mind you, just the fact that I knew he was in the Army and that he was due to be released this summer (of course it was odd to find out only days later he was released that same week.) “What? Are you some kind of stalker?” she asked.

No, no stalker, I just have a weird tendency to remember details which have no real relevance on my actual life. Did I remember to put out the mail for work? I dunno. When is Hyun Bin being released from the Marines? December. That’s not creepy, right?

Right? Continue reading

Cutest Story Ever? Probably

20 Jun

queen in hyun's man

This just warms my romantic soul. In  a case of life imitating art imitating life—you know if, in real life, a Joseon scholar found a magic amulet which has the ability to transport him into the future—I’m sure that happens all the time, right?

During a press conference for the popular drama Queen In Hyun’s Man, the lead actor Ji Hyun Woo confessed his sincere feelings for his leading lady Yoo In Na.

“I wanted to make this confession in front of the fans who enjoyed our drama. I sincerely love Yoo In Na”

Come on. How freaking cute is that? But wait, it gets cuter. Continue reading
