New Kdrama Addict

14 Apr

jeffreyfeverWith less than a week to go before the new site reveal (WOOT!) I have been neglecting you (BOO!). Sorry guys, I hope once Monday comes along all of the hard work will be worth it. But for the next 6 days? Yeah, y’all are gonna get the shaft. Don’t worry though, podcast is done and will be up tomorrow!

Here is a little something-something I found on Youtube last night and thought, as a kdrama fan, not only would you enjoy this, you would totally feel his pain.

Hellz Yeah, Epik High Is Coming! epik high

Was my first thought. It’s no surprise here that I’m a giant Epik High fan and most especially a Tablo fan and the idea of being in the same room as them while they sing in my general direction? Total Kfan swoon. Even now, thinking of them give me a bit of goosebumps. (But that could be the optimistically opened window.)

So what puts a frownyface on this awesome news?  Continue reading

The Countdown Has Begun!

9 Apr

curved-arrow-mdIf you’ll notice on the side bar there, we now have a swanky countdown notice. Now what’s this all about? As promised after the unfortunate, untimely, and just uncalled for shut down of the original Crazy For Kdrama site, this blog is changing. In a matter of days, Crazy for Kdrama will be no more.

Bummer guys, bummer.

But never fear! The newer, and lets hope, better site will take it’s place. We’ll have a new look and most importantly, a new name.  Why are we changing? Let’s just say the brand, Crazy For Kdrama, is now tainted by the bots and if I’m going to rebuild, I’m going to do everything I can not to find myself in their cross-hairs again.

What is the new name going to be? You’ll just have to hang around and find out! The new name has been run past a select group of beta testers and they all say “…uhh yeah, I guess so, what are you bothering me for?” so I consider that an A+ approval rating.

What is not going to change? Me. I’ll still be your same Junsu obsessed, crankypants wearing Kdrama fan reporting on whatever Kdrama news, reviews, and music tickles my fancy.

You’ll notice here that I’ve been a little half-hearted about posting new stuff as of late, and it’s because, in preparation for the relaunch, I’ve been uploading as many of the salvaged posts as I can. Once this is all done, I’ll have more time to work here and, you know, maybe watch some dramas!

So thanks for sticking with me and stay tuned as I have some fun things planned for the new launch!

Fish-eyed Kisses and Backhugs,

Stephanie is very angry at Cherry Cordial

8 Apr

roommateWord has come out that instead of coming out with a season 3 of Roommate as announced, the network has decided to pull plug, siting sagging ratings.

Cherry: I’ve finished my catch-up on Angry Mom, so I’m available whenever you are.

Stephanie: ohhh so NOW you want to talk. Well you’re just gonna have to slow your role sister while I finish my drama

Cherry: lol, np. Which drama?

Stephanie: I’m not talking to you right now–I’m mad at you! Continue reading

Fun Friday: Getting Fit With Kpop

1 Apr

I, like I’m sure many of you out there are trying to get off the couch and get healthy. No, no its not easy, especially with that couch and it easy access to endless episodes of Kdrama is so alluring. But we’ve gotta do what we gotta do, right? But here’s the thing–it doesn’t have to be so hard! Here are a few handy tips I’ve found to use our love of kpop to reach those weight loss goals.

1) first off, let’s talk turkey about our weight loss goals. Nothing says motovation like counting your goals in terms of Kpop stars. “Ugh, I have to lose a whole Taemin.” And when you start losing? “Whew! It was hard but I’ve lost half a Hongki!”

Japanese Whimsy

25 Mar

Most of you have already met me. I’m the girl who has NO IDEA about anything K-Pop related, but still managed to win ALL THE POINTS in an overseas game of “Is this a Kpop Star”? That’s right, I’m that awesome and omnipotent that I don’t even need to know what I am talking about to win at life.

Which is exactly the reason why Stephanie, your fearless leader, asked me to have a serious discussion with you about the perils of drug abuse and how it leads to teenage pregnancy and autism.

But I was like, “NO! No one wants to hear about that. Let me tell the masses about my wonderful travels throughout the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.”

She relented, so now I get to regale you with my tales of 10 days spent in Nagoya, Kyoto, and Tokyo.

The story really starts with an unexpected glimpse of snow-frosted mountains through crisp Winter air. I’ve seen numerous silk-screens, scrolls, and movies that feature mountains in Japan. I’m fully aware that Mt. Fuji is located in Japan. But I was really not prepared for the full breath-taking beauty of the mountainous landscape as you fly into Nagoya.

US Takes a Pass on Kdrama. Fans Say, Whew?

24 Mar

genre defying miscellany kdramaYes, there are parts of all of us that want Kdramas to come here. We all want to point to a super successful show that our friends are hooked on and go, “You know that’s based on a Kdrama, right? I watched the original. In Korean.” We all want to be cool before cool was cool.

But is it the best for us in the long run? I’m going to say no. What are the chances if it came here that it would be good? That the concept of the original dramas could hold up to the change from 20 episodes to as many seasons as American show producers can wring out of them? As I’ve seen few shows which can hold up to that I’m going to go with no.

Why is this coming up now? Continue reading
