Crazy For Kdrama Podcast Episode 22: Cozy, Cozy Kdrama

1 Apr

We had some fun this episode — or at least we laughed a lot. Although, how that’s different from any other episode? I’m not really sure.

Show Notes
In this episode we do lots of stuff, so just listen. Just kidding! After chatting about news, what we’re watching, and how Roommate has been letting us down of late, we answer Kdrama-related questions, which have us coming almost to blows over the epic question “Super Junior or Big Bang?” and wondering which Kdrama heroine we would most want to be. Then we move over to talking about comfort watches, dramas that are our go to’s if we are sick or just want to be cheered up.

Fun Friday: Top Five Dance Party Moments

6 Mar

In this cold, cold winter, stuck inside for days, I think we’re all going a little stir crazy. Unless you are on the west coast–and then I hate you.

A lot.

In times like these there is only one thing you can do to raise the spirit and get the blood pumping–and no I’m not talking a broody shower scene. Yep, you guessed it it’s time for a Dance Party! Now here are some of my Top Five kdrama Dance Party Moments. You know, characters getting their groove on!

City Hall

city hall 3

From a drama that turned from a light fun drama to a serious angst fest, it was great to have this last episode which was almost all epilogue, bringing us back to the light and fun. This song to Super Junior’s Sorry Sorry with almost all of our City Hall cast is one to remember. Makes me wish I worked at a job where I could group dance. You now, if only I could forget the episodes of office bickering and backstabbing which let up to this joyous occasion.  Continue reading

Kdrama Weekend?

28 Mar

rainy weekendRainy Weekend! Time to make some plans, but what to do, what to do? Nowadays I always feel so lame-o spending my weekends at home, but I think I can get away with it this time for a few reasons. 1) I did actually leave the house this week a couple of times once to go see Heathers the Musical with our good friend Thea and then again when I had a meeting in the city and coerced my boss to buy me Korean food. Luckily it  really wasn’t hard to do as he loves Korean food too.

And 2? It’s supposed to be cold and rainy all weekend.  Continue reading

The Next Big Deal

19 Feb
Sheee’s back! And apparently this time—she’s going to be bigger than ever. The buzz around the water cooler is that the ink hasn’t even dried on the last episode of Heirsand Kim Eun Suk, the mega hit maker has already signed onto her next drama. And it’s going to be a big one.
Now there was one time where I would have been completely thrilled by this news.  After watchingA Gentleman’s Dignity I honestly thought Kim Eun Suk was my favorite writers—but then I started seeing more of her other work—Secret Garden, which, yes, lots of people love, and while I didn’t hate it, I had some problems with it. After watching On Airmy esteem sank more. And thenHeirshappened. This has all forced me to even remove the rose colored glasses, look deep into the heart of A Gentleman’s Dignity and admit to its flaws as well.
The bloom is off this rose.

A Little More WooBin? Don’t Mind If I Do!

4 Feb
The Kdrama God’s are looking favorably down upon me! My newest bias, Woo Bin, his eyebrow and perfectly coifed hair have been cast in an upcoming movie! The downside is, of course, that it’s not a 16 episode drama.
Bummer. Only 2ish hours of Woo Bin.

Extreme upside though? It’s going to be a heist movie. I LOVE heist movies. Seriously? There is nothing more entertaining than a heist gone right movie. Think The Italian Job or Ocean’s Eleven. Although this is Korean, so a more apt example would probably be The Thieves. Although I don’t remember love–loving that one.

netflixIt has come to our attention that Netflix has uploaded some new kdrama for your perusal. Now, while it’s not like I can’t watch these somewhere else (as they are sourced by DramaFever and Viki) this is still pretty exciting. It has been forever and eight days since Netflix has added new shows and not only that, they’ve also have dropped a few series. I was afraid that this was a bad sign,  perhaps Kdrama wasn’t popular for them and and, in turn, they were going to drop the line.
But new stuff is in! Check out this link here.

Schools Apparently Back In

3 Dec

misskoreaWell this gave me a good chuckle. Lee Sun Gyun as a high school student? It tickles me about as much as seeing the A Gentleman’s Dignity boys during their high school days flashbacks. Here’s hoping Lee Sun Gyun’s are just as funny. Because if they don’t play it for humor it’s just going to be….weird. Continue reading

The Next Product To Be Placed?

6 Sep

Screenshot 2013-09-06 at 8.39.08 AMInteresting side note. I noticed a news article this week which talked about Samsung unveiling its new watch phone, the “Galaxy Gear Smartwatch”. The idea strikes me as funny, but really, when I think about it, its a pretty handy idea. I already use my phone as a watch so why not?

How does this relate to Kdrama? Well, my first thought when I saw the news? I wonder how long its going to be before one of these watches show up in a kdrama? We all know that Kdrama always features the newest and brightest in phones. Come on–how many of you watched a Kdrama and thought–damn I want that phone? I know it’s not just me.

Stephanie Whines About I Can Hear Your Voice

23 Jul
I-Hear-Your-VoiceNooo!!! Why are you doing this to me? *Whine followed by poutyface* I Can Hear Your Voice was extended by two episodes?
Look. I’m sure you’re very popular. And I’m sure you’ll fill these extra two episodes with the necessary twists and turns. But I find this to be completely unacceptable! Why? I really, really want to watch this show! And this extension will mean that’s at least one more week before I get to start it.
Un. Fair. I haven’t been this cranky since DramaFever spoiled one of the main plots. Okay—this is an exaggeration. Clearly I’m not upset by the extension—I am however still po’ed by the spoiler. Hey! Here’s a tip. If you’re going to do a spoiler in order to promote your club post—let a girl know! Toss in a: Spoilers or a DON’T LOOK HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN.

Plea to the God’s of Kdrama V

15 Mar

Since we’ve had a banner week of wishing for things this week, I figured it’s way past time to drag out our Plea to the God’s of Kdrama series. Looking at our last go around, we got 1 of four of our wishes. Hrm. Not great. However, looking at the wishing scoreboard, we’re at about a 50% success rate. WIN!

So what are we wishing here this time over at Crazy?

Ojakgyo BrothersOjakgyo-Brothers-2
I’ve heard really good things about this show! Actually, I haven’t heard anything bad about it. What I haven’t heard? Any of the big 3 getting it so I can easily watch without giving my computer a dreaded social disease. Come on, for something which is apparently so popular, there’s no reason why one of the big 3 (VIki, DramaFever, Hulu) shouldn’t get this. Continue reading
