Show Notes
In this episode we do lots of stuff, so just listen. Just kidding! After chatting about news, what we’re watching, and how Roommate has been letting us down of late, we answer Kdrama-related questions, which have us coming almost to blows over the epic question “Super Junior or Big Bang?” and wondering which Kdrama heroine we would most want to be. Then we move over to talking about comfort watches, dramas that are our go to’s if we are sick or just want to be cheered up.
Oh yeah, Monday night and I’m just now posting Musical Monday–what can I say? I’ve spent the entire weekend cramming in as much Kdrama as I possibly could. I swear after this project is done I’m going to need a good break–or at least that what my butt tells me I need to do.
So, in the terms of kdrama watching, I’m literally unable to multi-task unless that other task is randomly chatting with friends on Facebook Messenger about the current drama I’m watching. (Ask Cherry Cordial about some panicked late night texts as I was watching It’s Okay, That’s Love…) so long story short, no multi-tasking means a very late Musical Monday.
Not to mention–I think I’m running a little dry on the Kpop well. I see in the very near future I’m going to be spending some quality time with Youtube and spreadsheets.
In the pinch, I was reminded of this song that I have actually listened to a bunch of times but never mentioned it–probably because it doesn’t have a video–but you guys won’t mind a MV less song, right? I love the beat of this song the song itself reminds me of some of my favorite MIB songs–I’m sure people who enjoy the harder sound like Illionare would scoff at my comparison–but there it is.
I’ve also been aware of Illionare as he’s worked with Bobby on a song and since I’m a little obsessed with Bobby…. note was taken.
As I write this I’m hunkered down at the Starbucks listening to the song on repeat and I can’t stop my head from bobbing in time to the music–especially the chorus. As I’m wearing a giant scarf and poofy earmuffs, it’s quite a sight but it’s a mark as to how much I like the song to say, go ahead and stare, I couldn’t stop if I wanted too.
MAMA’s happened last week, and unlike last year, I did not wake up pre-dawn to live watch it. You shall not trick me again awards show! And looking at some of the videos, while they were interesting, not watching it live was not a super big deal.
I continue to love, love, love SeoTaiji, they did a mash up of some of his hits through the years and I’m kicking myself for still not picking up any of his albums. Maybe Santa will get them for me for Christmas 😉 Continue reading →
Well, here’s something different. Bobby has been on my radar since hearing his song playing in the shop in Flushing and someone was able to tell me who it was from my Instagram video. Here he is on another Korean music show, this one I”m not as familiar with, but I think they match people of different musical genres and have them perform together? It’s a guess. It’s probably wrong. Continue reading →

Anyway, here he is performing a cover of Adele’s, Rolling In The Deep. At first I didn’t care for it, and when one of the singers crashed the guitar to the stage (because why?? It’s not like he was even playing the thing, he picked it up from the back, pretended to play for a second and then slammed it to the ground. Cringe.), the performance became a little cringe-worthy, but luckily, that’s when the song takes a turn for the better, and I really being to like it a lot, enjoying the fusion of rap and r&b.
It looks like one of the judges is the leader of YG, and I’m really hoping that Bobby gets picked up by the company–he seems like he’d be a good fit.
Thanks to the quick response of Imagine Sky Blue Pink, I now know what the song was playing in that cutesy Korean gift shop. While I really like the song, and will probably see if I can buy it somewhere, I still stand by the notion that it was an odd choice for such a pink filled shop.
