Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo Yong Review (SPOILERS)

29 Mar

ghost seeing detective cheo yongAs Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo Yong is a cable drama and thereby supposedly  superior in quality and short in episodes, it was an easy fit into last years Cramming In Kdrama. Unfortunately, while it was indeed short in episodes and had a hero who was so beautiful it was distracting it was unfortunately, not superior in quality.

So why, months later, am I choosing to throw it in front of all the other dramas I’m supposed to review? News came down the kdrama pipeline that they are making a season two. My thoughts? What the freaking fudge? COME ON. Out of all the dramas you had last year, including the killer Bad Guys you choose this piece of badly written poo to do a second season?

Okay, that was overly dramatic. The drama isn’t a pile of poo.

Top 5 Shows of 2014 That Gave Stephanie Cranky-pants

13 Jan

crankypantsSometimes we hear about dramas so far in advance, we have preconceived notions of what they are going to be, or more importantly, what we want them to be. Then by the time they finally come along and we settle in, ready to be entertained, something happens and pins are pricked in our hope balloons are popped. Or sometimes a we’ll be sitting there, loving the heck out of a drama, thinking it will be the best of the best and then again, that something happens, and our dreams are dashed. This is my list of my most disappointing dramas, or more importantly, dramas which gave Stephanie cranky-pants. Continue reading

Crammin in Kdrama Update 2: Slowing down?

9 Dec

Crunch Time 2The end of the year seems to be getting here fast and faster–where is all my kdrama watching time? I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not sure how many dramas I’m going to be able to fit in before the clock stripes 12. So the berating begins–why didn’t I watch more during the year? I’m such a slacker.

Downside? My trip home for the holiday to seem friends and family got canceled. Once the weeping, whining to friends, and morosely listening to gay Christmas music (Soundtrack of Make the Yultide Gay, if you like Christmas music, check it out) while self-indulgently wandering the streets of NY passed, I looked on the bright side. More Kdrama for me!

Now to stop slacking off while watching old episodes of Shark Tank (seriously, I think I have an addiction to that stupid show)–it’s time to get to get some serous watching done!

And now for the drama Update. Continue reading

Crazy For Kdrama Podcast Episode 11: Kdrama’s Second Season

22 Oct

Episode 11! I’m trying so hard to make these shorter — it’s possible I’m fighting a losing battle. I literally cut 45 minutes from this episode. What can I say, Cherry and I are chatty, chatty, chatty. I’m so excited to actually be able to contribute something to the ‘what we’re watching’ section — it’s possible the anticipated shame of announcing I hadn’t seen anything made me sit down and watch something. So, yay!

Hot & Cold Finishing Show Scoreboad II

6 Aug

I was thinking Kdrama was having a pretty great year this year, and since we have many of them under our belts, I thought it might be time to update the TBWList. That means it’s time for the Kdrama Hot & Cold List! Which dramas have a chance to be put on that all important list, to eventually be watched, or ignored. (Hey, Kdrama watching time is hard to come by!)

Flower Grandpa

Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit: I tried the first episode of this drama, I didn’t love it. I’m not entirely sure I actually liked it that much. Oh Cable Dramas, sometimes you go so right, and then others, with the over the top, trite characters, you irritate the bejeezus out of me. Now, Grandpa Flowers wasn’t hateful, maybe it got good, but I’m not sure I’ll stick around to find out Verdict: Tepid, like my shower on really cold days.
