Fun Friday: Getting Fit With Kpop

1 Apr

I, like I’m sure many of you out there are trying to get off the couch and get healthy. No, no its not easy, especially with that couch and it easy access to endless episodes of Kdrama is so alluring. But we’ve gotta do what we gotta do, right? But here’s the thing–it doesn’t have to be so hard! Here are a few handy tips I’ve found to use our love of kpop to reach those weight loss goals.

1) first off, let’s talk turkey about our weight loss goals. Nothing says motovation like counting your goals in terms of Kpop stars. “Ugh, I have to lose a whole Taemin.” And when you start losing? “Whew! It was hard but I’ve lost half a Hongki!”

T.O.P It To Me

1 Apr

T.O.P in a drama? A romantic drama no less? Hello dreams come true!

Well, real dreams come true would be a romantic drama starring T.O.P and me–but I’ll take what I can get.

It was announced  this week that a joint drama between Korean and Japanese production companies is in the works for an air date later this year. As I’ve been watching more Japanese dramas and movies, this had interested from the start, but now that they have cast T.O.P? It’s an automatic watch. Continue reading

Crazy For Kdrama Podcast Episode 22: Cozy, Cozy Kdrama

1 Apr

We had some fun this episode — or at least we laughed a lot. Although, how that’s different from any other episode? I’m not really sure.

Show Notes
In this episode we do lots of stuff, so just listen. Just kidding! After chatting about news, what we’re watching, and how Roommate has been letting us down of late, we answer Kdrama-related questions, which have us coming almost to blows over the epic question “Super Junior or Big Bang?” and wondering which Kdrama heroine we would most want to be. Then we move over to talking about comfort watches, dramas that are our go to’s if we are sick or just want to be cheered up.

Bigbang Is At It Again

31 Mar

If you are a BigBang fan like myself or more to the point you used to be a fan before they kept teasing again and again and again  (and again and again and again) about their ‘imminent’ comeback, you were all over the countdown clock YG had posted on their website counting down to the reveal of who was going to be their next release.

Rumors buzzed the boards. Was this finally the BigBang  announcement we have been waiting for? Or was YG just going to trick us again? We were like conspiracy theorists.

  • It’s coming out on April fools day, could this be a joke?
  • It’s probably just Ikon.
  • See? The countdown clock is a detonate on dynamite, so, when it gets to 0 what happens? A BigBang! It’s BigBang, we know it is!

Musical Monday: The Goodbye Jaejoong Edition

30 Mar

Jaejoong 2

The very first of JYJ is off to do their military service. Jaejoong is first which means it’s only a matter of time before Junsu heads in. Waaahhh.

In his rounds of goodbyes, Jaejoong just did a sold out concert (that both Junsu and Yoochun attended–I luf these guys!) where it is rumored that tickets were being scalped for a million won. Woah. After the concert, he posted a picture of his self chopped hair (isn’t it funny how stars will cut their hair before their military buzz cut? It’s like testing the water–short hair training wheels). Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo Yong Review (SPOILERS)

29 Mar

ghost seeing detective cheo yongAs Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo Yong is a cable drama and thereby supposedly  superior in quality and short in episodes, it was an easy fit into last years Cramming In Kdrama. Unfortunately, while it was indeed short in episodes and had a hero who was so beautiful it was distracting it was unfortunately, not superior in quality.

So why, months later, am I choosing to throw it in front of all the other dramas I’m supposed to review? News came down the kdrama pipeline that they are making a season two. My thoughts? What the freaking fudge? COME ON. Out of all the dramas you had last year, including the killer Bad Guys you choose this piece of badly written poo to do a second season?

Okay, that was overly dramatic. The drama isn’t a pile of poo.

Fun Friday: Me! Me! It’s All About Me!

27 Mar

And for those of you who said “Isn’t it always about you?”, well you can shut the fudge up.

Throughout the years of Crazy, I’ve periodically been nominated for those random awards (or chain letters) that sweep the bloggosphere. Now, you wouldn’t know that from looking here as I’ve never actually done the post. Why? Well, it’s not that I didn’t do a little happy dance whenever I got the “You’ve been nominated” notification. It’s more the–I feel weird just talking about myself and–it would mean I’d have to make a horrible confession.

What confession you ask? What could be so horrible that it would stop me from writing a fun post about myself? Here’s the thing (and don’t think too badly on me for this): So with these awards you answer the questions put to you by the nominee, ask some of your own, and nominate various bloggers that you read for the award (hence the chain letter aspect). Here’s the truth….I don’t read other blogs.

GASP, I KNOW! Continue reading

What The Bum?

26 Mar

No idea why this post needed to be named that, but once it came to me, IT WOULD NOT GO AWAY!

New Drama Alert! New Exciting Drama Alert? Why am I so excited for this drama? Number one: Turns out, after Padam Padam, I’m a big Kim Bum fan. Ah hellz, my dark secret? I was even a Kim Bum fan after Boys Over Flowers–he was so cool.

boys over flowers

(saxophone playing aside)

But it was Padam Padam which made me appreciate Kim Bum the actor. I was just (literally just) talking to someone about wondering what he was up to and wishing he would sign onto a drama I wanted to see (yeah, I have no interest in that pottery drama, sorry Kim Bum) and then blamo! Here he is. In a drama I want to see.  Continue reading

Japanese Whimsy

25 Mar

Most of you have already met me. I’m the girl who has NO IDEA about anything K-Pop related, but still managed to win ALL THE POINTS in an overseas game of “Is this a Kpop Star”? That’s right, I’m that awesome and omnipotent that I don’t even need to know what I am talking about to win at life.

Which is exactly the reason why Stephanie, your fearless leader, asked me to have a serious discussion with you about the perils of drug abuse and how it leads to teenage pregnancy and autism.

But I was like, “NO! No one wants to hear about that. Let me tell the masses about my wonderful travels throughout the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.”

She relented, so now I get to regale you with my tales of 10 days spent in Nagoya, Kyoto, and Tokyo.

The story really starts with an unexpected glimpse of snow-frosted mountains through crisp Winter air. I’ve seen numerous silk-screens, scrolls, and movies that feature mountains in Japan. I’m fully aware that Mt. Fuji is located in Japan. But I was really not prepared for the full breath-taking beauty of the mountainous landscape as you fly into Nagoya.

US Takes a Pass on Kdrama. Fans Say, Whew?

24 Mar

genre defying miscellany kdramaYes, there are parts of all of us that want Kdramas to come here. We all want to point to a super successful show that our friends are hooked on and go, “You know that’s based on a Kdrama, right? I watched the original. In Korean.” We all want to be cool before cool was cool.

But is it the best for us in the long run? I’m going to say no. What are the chances if it came here that it would be good? That the concept of the original dramas could hold up to the change from 20 episodes to as many seasons as American show producers can wring out of them? As I’ve seen few shows which can hold up to that I’m going to go with no.

Why is this coming up now? Continue reading
