Ode To Yellow Subtitles.

24 May

You Stink.

Or I should specify. Yellow subtitles, on the computer, you don’t stink. Yellow subtitles on my crappy tv? You’re a big fat stinker.

When I originally got my Roku box and I realized the horror of the yellow subtitles, I just sucked it up and muddled through. Really, it was only an issue if someone was wearing white or light colors, if they were sitting at a table with light or white colors, or the sun was shining brightly. Otherwise, I wished every scene took place at night and that everyone wore drab clothing. But we know Kdrama–drab clothing just isn’t going to happen.

However, I found a solution which didn’t require my buying a new tv:

Usual location of couch, please note the acceptable space between the couch and the tv. (Yes, I have a LOT of pillows on my couch–the couch is ugly–and I work for a bedding company.) yellow subs

Handy trick I learned, please note new position of couch. The closer I am to the TV, the better more I can see the subtitles.yellow subs2

Why am I bringing this up now? Well, this week I’ve been watching Me Too, Flower!, which I love. The first time I started watching it, I almost stopped because I couldn’t read what was going on. This time around I had my new trick all queued up. It didn’t take me more than two minutes to realize this just wasn’t going to work this time. One of the things this show has going for it is the banter between the two leads. Banter which moves very quickly. Yellow plus witty banter makes Stephanie cranky. So I made the move. And my view from the couch is this:

Here’s hoping no one unexpectedly stops by!
Also, I just noticed Gussie photobombed each shot.
